Differential Diagnosis

History:

An oval red plaque with many small new lesions involving the shoulder area of two months duration. The active border of the main plaque is evident. This characteristic feature of dermatophytosis i.e active border and clear center is important in clinical diagnosis of tinea affecting any part of the body and from this border scales are usually yielding positive result in KOH preparation.
