Differential Diagnosis

A solitary slightly pruritic red scaly patch-plaque of 6 months duration. It responds partially to topical steroid but exacerbates again on reduction or withdrawal of steroid. Scales scraped from the margin of the patch showed fungal hyphae and spores on KOH mount preparation. The lesion cured on topical clotrimazole for 4 weeks.
