Differential Diagnosis

History:

Presence of very itchy, pinkish rubbery nodules on the penis (glans/ coronal sulcus/ shaft) and or the scrotum in the context of scabies might be due to one of two possibilities:

1. If no treatment has been received, these nodule will be part of scabies itself and might harbour scabitic mites!

2. If the nodules appear after successful treatment of scabies elsewhere, they will represent a hypersensitivity reaction to destructed (treated) mite or its products and usually contains no mite on histological examination and in such case these nodules are known as "Postscabitic Allergic Nodules".

The presented case is "Postscabitic Allergic Nodules".
