Differential Diagnosis

History:

The hypopigmentation is apparent rather than real.If the surrounding skin is blanched by pressure the colour will be uniform between involved and noninvolved skin indicating that it is reduced blood flow in a nevus anemicus that is the cause of the pale area.It is thought there is overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system in a nevus anemicus.
