Differential Diagnosis

History: Seborrheic dermatitis may occur in infants within the first three months of life and in adults between the ages of 30 to 60 years.  In infants, atopic dermatitis has the same sites of predilection as seborrheic dermatitis: the scalp, face, diaper areas and extensor limb surfaces. Involvement of axillae, however, favors the diagnosis of seborrheic dermatitis, as do lack of scratching and absence of oozing and weeping.   Atopic dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis with cradle cap may coexist in some cases.
