Differential Diagnosis

History: This patient was given a steroid injection for a swollen arthritic knee.Shortly afterwards his previously stable plaque psoriasis was converted into acute tender pustular psoriasis. This can be a life threatening condition. He required Methotrexate to bring the condition rapidly under control. In general oral steroids should not be used in psoriasis because of the danger of this very phenomenon.
