Differential Diagnosis

A 58-year-old man presented with well-defined red scaly plaques with rough surface involving the face, scalp neck and shoulders of many months duration. No systemic symptoms were reported. Skin biopsy was consistent with DLE. Hydroxychloroquine orally 400 mg per day was initiated and gave good response after 2 months of therapy. Oral isotertinoin 30 mg per day for three months was decided to be given to reduce the risk of malignancy.
