History:

This 25-year-old girl was advised to apply a topical herbal remedy to treat the vitiliginous patches of the legs.  She subsequently developed burning sensation associated with erythema, vesiculation, and blistering of the affected areas within a few days of starting the topical therapy.  Allergic contact dermatitis was frst described by Jadassohn in 1895. It is a delayed type of induced sensitivity caused by cutaneous contact with a specific allergen to which the patient has developed a specific sensitivity.
