Differential Diagnosis

A girl aged 9 years presented with multiple hypopigmented patches over the face and extensor aspect of her forearms for the last 10 months. She goes to school and plays tennis. There is no history of atopy,no pruritus.

On examination, multiple hypopigmented patches were present over forehead, cheeks on both sides and extensor aspects of both forearms. No sensory loss.Biopsy was not done.

Clinically it looks like Polymorphous light eruption with post inflammatory hypopigmentation. The patient had the more typical papular eruption of PMLE on her forearms. A differential diagnosis would be Pityriasis alba.
