Differential Diagnosis

History:

The true fibroma, a benign neoplasm of fibroblastic origin, is rare in the oral cavity. In comparison with fibroepithelial polyp, the true fibroma is a continuously enlarging new growth, not necessarily arising at a site of potential trauma. It is a pedunculated growth with a smooth, non-ulcerated, pink surface. This old woman presented with two pinkish button-like nodules on the inner surface of the lower lip of one year duration. There was no history of previous trauma.
