History:

Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma usually appears as one or several nodules or a solitary large plaque lesion on the extremities. The lesion appears at birth or in early childhood and is often associated with pain and hyperhidrosis. The lesion is a dome-shaped, tender, dark-red, dusky or bluish moderately soft hemangioma that will vary from 12 to 20 mm in diameter. When stroked or pinched, the lesion forms characteristic drops or beaded rings of perspiration. The condition is benign and slow growing; however excision may be necessary because of pain. Histologically, there is a combination of lobules of mature eccrine glands and ducts with thin-walled blood vessels.
