History:

A melanocytic nevus has been present since late childhood, at last two months it suddenly enlarged in size and became nodular with areas of hemorrhage within have developed. Bleeding within a nevus in addition to abrupt increment in size are two suggestive signs that may indicate melanomatous transformation. The nevus was excised in toto and fortunately the histologic picture was of a benign nevus with areas of hemorrhage within on biopsy examination.
