History:

Paederus dermatitis, a type of irritant contact dermatitis is caused by Staphylinid beetle. The beetle does not bite or sting, but when crushed against the skin it releases a potent toxin known as pederin that results in itching, burning, erythema,  vesiculation and oozing.    Paederus dermatitis occurs predominantly on exposed parts of the body.
