History:

This 3-year-old female child presented with scofuloderma on the left side of her neck. She also developed grouped vesicles on an erythematous base over the same site. A diagnosis of herpes zoster was made and confirmed by cytological studies.

This is an example of generalised suppression of T-cell induced immunity. The child and her parents were tested of HIV serology, but were negative.
