History: Merkel cell carcinoma can be seen with many different morphologies. These include scaly papules and nodules simulating SCCs and also infiltrated plaques and nodules simulating BCCs or metastases. The ;esionsmay be pink coloured or violaceous. The lesions are rapid growers and are usually seen in individuals with severely sun damaged skin. The tumour is probably better named as primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of the skin.It favours the head and neck regions and metastasizes early.
