History:

Erythromelanosis follicularis faciei (EFF) is a rare pigmentary disease associated with erythema, hyperpigmentation and follicular papules on the face. When part of the neck (sides of the neck) are involved, the condition will be known as erythromelanosis follicularis faciei et colli. The cause is unknown, but some cases have hereditary component (autosomal recessive). EFF primarily affects adolescents. However, it has been reported in children and in adults. The male:female ratio is 2:1.
