History:

Case of Dr 

7 year old girl developed rashes on both ear (back and front). She has had ear pierced and is putting plated ear studs (?Nickel plated) as shown in figure. Rashes developed in 1-2 wks and is quite weepy and infected.
No h/o dandruff, psoriasis, atopy or eczema. No significant family h/o any skin diseases.
PDx; Contact dermatitis due to the stud superadded infection
Advised to remove the stud, apply Mupirocin tds, elocon ointment Bd for a wk and then a week steroid sigmacort ointment for another 2 wks. The lesion cleared in 3 wks.
