Differential Diagnosis

History:

Patient of Dr

50 year old woman, "grey nomad" travelling NT. A ?beetle fell from the caravan canopy as they took it down and she squashed it across her right neck. That evening rash looked like this. Presented D2, painful and itchy, not systemically unwell.
No relevant past medical history or medications.
This is a contact dermatitis. I wondered if possibly Paederus Australis "The Acid Beetle".
Rx: prednisolone oral, started at 25mg d and weaned every few days. Total course 7/7. Advised to use cool compresses for symptom relief and drying of blisters. Otherwise panadol and antihistamines prn. Patient presented a few weeks later with her husband happy with care. See AJD article on this
