History:

Patient of Dr L Rebello

this is a case of a 10 yr old boy who came to the clinic with this hypo pigmented lesion on the face
and tip of the nose
is started a year ago and gradually increased in size
there was HYPOSTHESIA on the lesions and the tip of the nose
the ulnar nerve on palpation was thickened
i have ordered a skin biopsy for him
i think he has Hansens disease.

This is one of the advantages of having overseas candidates for the Membership. You get the chance to see more exotic conditions like this! This is probably more tuberculoid leprosy with a decent immune reaction so there may not be many organisms in the biopsy. I would be interested in a glass slide image with pressure applied to these granulomatous dots. I will put up some leprosy references. (Submitted By: Dr Ian McColl)
