History:

 

Patient of Dr J Lim

6 yr old boy, had an itchy skin lesion over right lateral lumbar region for 1 week. he loves playing in the backyard barefooted.

 



 

Case Comments    
Great photo!
A single dose might work,but better results expected with Albendazole 7.5mg /kg (max 400mg bd) for 3 days.
Ivermectin 200 microg/kg single dose or for 2 d also excellent choice. (Submitted By: Dr Thomas Koeck)

   

Beautifully photographed example Jo Anne. You can aquire this condition in any damp area where infected dogs or cats defaecate the hookworm larvae on the ground. (Submitted By: Dr Ian McColl)

  
 

Follow Up
i gave him syrup albendazole 10cc stat.

 

 

 

Final Diagnosis

cutaneous larva migrans.
