Differential Diagnosis

History:

Lumbo sacral dermal melanocytosis is present at birth due to a deep failed migration of embryonic nevus cells to the skin surface. A minor variant like this will clear by aged 5 but more extensive variants can persist indefinately. There can be multiple lesions. They do not develope malignancy.
