History: Acne neonatorum is caused by stimulation of sebaceous glands by the maternal androgens.  It usually resolves spontaneously in a few months as the maternal hormones wane.  No treatment is usually required.  Topical benzoyal peroxide in low concentrations may be tried sparingly to treat the condition.
