History: Repigmentation of the vitiliginous patches following oral or topical PUVA therapy results from the migration of melanocytes from the contiguous pigmented skin into the depigmented skin.  The hair follicles present inside the depigmented patches are also an important reservoir of melanocytes, so perifollicular repigmentation becomes evident sooner following PUVA therapy.
