Differential Diagnosis

History:

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is an endemic parasitic disease in Iraq hence the name Baghdad boil is widely used in Iraq to denote cutaneous leishmaniasis. This old lady complained of an asymptomatic dull-red large plaque involving the upper lip and the left cheek. The lesion extended peripherally slowly to reach this large size within 3 years. On examination the plaque was indurated and not tender. She was diagnosed as dry type cutaneous leishmaniasis.
