History:

Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by excessive solar damage to the skin that develops at an early age. Consequently, the lesions occur chiefly in areas of the skin habitually exposed to sunlight. At adolescence but sometimes much earlier in the patient's life, various types of premalignant and malignant tumors of the skin appear such as KA, SCC, BCC, malignant melanoma and, rarely, fibrosarcoma.
