History:

Onychomycosis is usually caused by candida or by dermatophytes. Presences of fungal infections elsewhere in the body like tinea pedis and tinea cruris and long exposure to moisture are the main predisposing factors. This housewife gave history of daily long exposures to moisture during her daily house work. She developed nails’ discoloration and easily broken nails one year ago. The condition started in one finger nail then extended to involve all finger nails bilaterally except the fifth fingers. On examination, afflicted nails were discolored with yellowish greenish colour in addition to distal onycholysis and subungual debris. Nails of thumbs had maximum involvement.
